How we can adapt in uncertain times

PR/Awards

Humans don’t naturally enjoy change. Even if it’s positive, we easily become anxious and stressed just trying to navigate the “new.” The COVID-19 pandemic has created a singular drastic change across the globe for individuals, businesses, and nations. As the coming months unfold, there will be difficulty, uncertainty, expectance and hope. We must fortify ourselves on a belief that this, like all things, is a moment. A moment of time that eventually will pass. To combat the crisis mode our bodies and minds push us towards in times such as these, we must stay patient, flexible, and focused.

Patient.

Be patient with everyone around you. Stay positive with the people you interact with online that may not have the same ideology as you. Take a deep breath with your family as you’re all staying home together. Stay patient with the company you work for as they navigate this uncharted time.

Flexible.

We must adapt to these ever-changing times and come up with new ways to achieve our goals. Use a free video conferencing software to stay connected to family, friends, and coworkers. Try new methods of entertainment or digital ways to stay engaged – we see you Netflix Party. Be willing to jump in at work to make things easier on those around you.

Focused.

Focus on the good. Thank the neighbors who are offering to help with shopping or dog walking for those who are more vulnerable. Remember the restaurants who are donating their food, time and efforts to community food banks or outreach programs. Focus on the companies that are putting their employees first and making sure they have what they need to stay safe. Learn how to do your part in your community.

When we look back on this moment of time, what actions will we see? Were we patient? Were we flexible? Did we rise to the challenges presented before us? Time will tell. What we do know is that coming together, linked in a digital world, is the only way we can get through this and come out better for it on the other side.
